K A Paul, the eccentric evangelist-turned-politician, is widely popular for bringing comic relief in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana's political landscape. Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Paul has made an interesting offer to the Centre. He has expressed his willingness to buy the steel plant at five times the price, should the government decide to go ahead with the privatization.
At a press conference held in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, Paul, who leads the Praja Shanti Party, urged the Centre to reconsider its decision to privatize the plant. He claimed that as a "son of the soil", he felt responsible for saving the steel plant and was even fighting a legal battle to stop its privatization.
Interestingly, V V Lakshminarayana, a former Joint Director of the CBI, has also joined hands with Paul in his efforts to save the steel plant. Lakshminarayana was present at the press conference and pledged to fight alongside the people to prevent the plant's privatisation. However, for many who admire JD it was an irony to see him stage with Paul. Netizens already started trolling this and many even claimed that finally JD would join Praja Shanthi Party under Paul's leadership. Well, it's leading to a meme fest on social media.
