NTR's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, being held across the globe, reached Singapore on January 26th, India's Republic Day. The event, organized by 'Jai NTR Team Singapore,' took place at the Arya Samaj Auditorium from 9 am to 2 pm, with around 500 attendees participating in the grand celebration.
The event was graced by esteemed guests from India: Sri Nandamuri Ramakrishna, son of legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR); Sri T.D. Janardhan, Chairman of the NTR Literature Committee and Telugu Desam Politburo member; and renowned actor Sri M. Murali Mohan. The program was overseen by Sri Renukumar Kanneganti, Sri Suresh Moddukuru, Sri Venkat Bhimineni, and Sri Karunakar Kancheti from 'Jai NTR Team Singapore.'
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and garlanding of NTR's statue by the guests. Prof. B.V.R. Chowdary and Sri Vattikooti Seshagiri Rao delivered the welcome address, highlighting NTR's contributions to cinema and politics. Cultural programs followed, featuring captivating dance performances by local Telugu families, including children and young women, who enthralled the audience with their renditions of songs from NTR's films.
The event also saw the launch of 'Taraka Ramam,' a book compiled by Sri Bhageeratha, a member of the NTR Literature Committee. Additionally, a video song titled 'Telugu Vaari Gundebalam,' composed by Sri T.D. Janardhan, was released.
Sri Nandamuri Ramakrishna, in his address, expressed his happiness at the global celebration of NTR's Diamond Jubilee. He thanked Sri T.D. Janardhan for initiating these celebrations and organizing the grand event in Vijayawada. He lauded the efforts of Sri T.D. Janardhan and Sri Atluri Ashwin for coordinating the events across various countries and bringing together Telugu people worldwide. He fondly remembered his father, NTR, and the values of discipline, humility, and culture he instilled in them.
Sri Murali Mohan spoke about his association with NTR and the Telugu Desam Party, recalling the affectionate bond he shared with the legendary actor. He expressed his desire for NTR to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, stating it would bring joy to millions of NTR's fans and Telugu people.
Sri T.D. Janardhan delivered a stirring and inspiring speech, describing NTR as a cinematic legend and a political phenomenon who transformed the landscape of Andhra Pradesh politics. He praised NTR for introducing ethical values, democratic principles, and welfare schemes into the political arena. He highlighted the work of the NTR Literature Committee in publishing rare books about NTR to preserve his legacy for future generations. He also mentioned their efforts to install a 100-foot statue of NTR in Hyderabad.
The event, which lasted for nearly four hours, saw participation from all Telugu associations in Singapore. Mementos were presented to all the participants by the guests of honor. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Jai NTR Team members Sri Sarvesh and Sri Kuricheti Karunakar.
