The Indian Embassy in Cambodia has succeeded in the rescuing 60 Indian nationals who fell victim to fraudulent employers in the Southeast Asian country. These individuals, predominantly hailing from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, were ensnared by false promises and coerced into cybercrime syndicates.
The plight of these 300 young men and women came to light when they staged a revolt against their captors in Sihanoukville, a coastal city notorious for its cybercrime activities. Consequently, many of the protesting youths found themselves imprisoned.
The Embassy, cognizant of the rising trend of Indian nationals being exploited abroad, has issued several advisories cautioning against unauthorised agents. Indian citizens seeking employment in Cambodia are urged to exercise vigilance and refrain from engaging in activities contrary to the purpose of their visa. Moreover, the Embassy emphasizes the importance of avoiding involvement in illegal cybercrimes.
