Great News For NRIs: US extends EAD validity to 5 years

In a news that could positively impact the lives of thousands of Indians residing in the USA, the immigration department has extended the validity of the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) to 5 years.

The extension will be applicable for certain sections of the non-citizens in the USA and it will also be applicable for those who have filed for the EADs for the first time and also those who are in line for extension.

Usually, EADs are given to the life partners(H-4 holders) and sub-21 aged children of H-1B visa holders. The process could take up to an year and as a result, the beneficiary at the risk of losing good job offers. With the new extension in place, the recipient will have the chance to continue their employment longer.

EADs are the documents that let the dependants of the H-1B visa holders to work in legitimate jobs in the USA. The validity of the same has been increased to 5 years now. This is a big relied to the Indian community in the USA.
