'Marco' Movie Success: Unni Mukundan Thanks Telugu Audience for Overwhelming Response
Talented Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan's latest blockbuster 'Marco', directed by Hanif Adeni and produced by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner, has been creating waves. After a successful run in Malayalam, NVR Cinema released the film in Telugu on January 1st, where it received a tremendous response and achieved blockbuster success. It even set a record as the highest-grossing Malayalam movie on its first day in Telugu. Unni Mukundan shared his thoughts on the film's success.
Q: You achieved a big success with 'Marco'. How do you feel?
A: I'm extremely happy. I thank the audience for supporting the film and giving it a grand success. I will continue to do my best to entertain the audience.
Q: What was your reaction when you saw the audience response?
A: It was a very overwhelming feeling. We worked really hard. Fight sequences are always risky. I didn't use any duplicates. There was a lot of risk involved in the production since the film received an A certificate, but now I'm very happy that it crossed 100 crores despite the A certificate.
Q: Did you anticipate this level of success during the shooting?
A: I did. I was confident that the whole country would embrace the film. Times are changing. Our production quality is top-notch.
Q: How did you prepare for your role in the film?
A: Since it's a spin-off, I had an idea about the character. The team was very enthusiastic about making this movie. My biggest support was my brother Shareef Muhammed.
Q: What challenges did you face for your role?
A: I wanted to make sure I didn't get injured while shooting the action part. Everyone prayed for that. If I got injured, the shoot would have stopped. Luckily, everything went well. I had to prepare a good physique for the character. Maintaining the build was challenging.
Q: What is your most memorable scene in the film?
A: The staircase fight... it came out like a blast. My appreciation to everyone who was part of it. This is a movie to be seen on the big screens. Please watch it in theaters, you'll understand why I'm saying this so enthusiastically.
Q: Can you personally relate to this character?
A: I relate to all the characters I have played on screen so far.
Q: About the film's director Hanif Adeni?
A: He is my friend, brother, and well-wisher. Working with him is a great experience.
Q: The BGM has received an extraordinary response. Tell us about Ravi Basrur's contribution to the music?
A: Ravi Basrur is a master. He has wonderfully shaped every scene with his music. Congratulations to his entire team.
Q: About the other technicians?
A: Chandru, who worked on my hit movie Jai Ganesh, did a wonderful job as the cinematographer. Sunil surprised with his art work. The fight masters did amazing action choreography. Thank you to everyone by name.
Q: 'Marco' has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film on its first day in Telugu. How does it feel to achieve such a great milestone?
A: It felt very thrilling. I strongly believed that this film should be released in Telugu. The Telugu audience appreciates novelty. 'Baahubali', 'Eega'... films made by Rajamouli sir are all high-time experiments, but the audience embraced them wonderfully. It's an inspiration to make such a film. Thanks to the Telugu audience for their love.
Q: How did you feel about NVR Cinema releasing 'Marco' in Telugu in such a grand manner?
A: They released it wonderfully. Now I stand with a film that has achieved huge openings from Malayalam. I couldn't ask for more.
Q: Your new films? What genre do you prefer to do most?
A: I will announce my next project soon. I want to entertain in all genres that the audience asks for.
