Rocking Rakesh is playing the lead role in the movie "Keshava Chandra Ramavath" (KCR). Directed by Garuda Vega Anji and produced under Green Tree Productions, the film features Annanya Krishnan as the female lead. Rocking Rakesh himself produced the film. The teaser and trailer have created a good buzz, and "Keshava Chandra Ramavath" is set to release on November 22nd. Rocking Rakesh recently shared some interesting details about the film in a press meet.
Why did you choose such a serious subject for your first film, while you make everyone laugh in Jabardasth?
- A comedian can play any role. Actors like Brahmanandam garu have proved that in the past with films like "Babai Hotel." Chalam garu did a film called "Lambadolla Ramadasu" back then. The audience can accept comedians in any kind of character. That's how I ended up doing this film. The story itself made me act.
Did you consider the title "KCR" for this film from the beginning?
- When I wrote this story, I named it "Mera Naam KCR." The hero's name in this story is Keshava Chandra Ramavath. If you shorten it, it becomes KCR. However, it's not easy to use this name. It's the initials of Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao garu. We definitely need a No Objection letter. That's why I submitted my story to the party and got this title.
Is this film specifically made for a particular party or person?
- If that was the intention, the film should have been released when the party was in power, right? You know how much I struggled for this film. If I had the party's support, I wouldn't have faced so many difficulties. This film is made beyond party lines. I wish the media and audience would support such stories.
- There was a film called "Fan" in Bollywood. It's the journey of a boy to see Shah Rukh Khan. For films like this, the story is the hero. That's how I believed in the story and made this film. This film is about KCR garu. Along with that, there is a wonderful story. I don't have any party. My party is the cinema party.
- Because of the love they have for me, Roja garu, Harish Rao garu, Johnny Master, and the entire Jabardasth team came to the pre-release event. Ultimately, a film should entertain everyone. This film will also entertain the audience. After this film, more such stories will come.
Did KCR watch this film?
- It's my endeavor to show this film to KCR garu. The song written by Goreti Venkanna garu in this film brought me closer to KCR garu. Goreti Venkanna garu wrote amazing lyrics. After listening to it, KCR garu called me and spoke to me.
You've been in the entertainment industry for a long time, right? Didn't you know about the difficulties of filmmaking in the beginning?
- I really didn't know. Mallemala Shyam Prasad Reddy garu gave us work. He made sure we didn't face any difficulties. We really didn't know what the outside world was like. Everything worked out on time. During this journey, I realized that Shyam Prasad Reddy garu took care of us like we were his own children for almost 13 years and raised us without letting us know the difficulties of filmmaking. Anyway, since I'm passionate about cinema, I'm happy to have faced all the difficulties and brought this film to the audience.
If you have to tell this story in a single line?
- A boy born in a Lambada family is moved by an atrocity happening in his village, steps into Hyderabad, and what did he do for his village? What insults did he face in his village? Finally, how did he become a star in that village? That's the story. This story is inspired by real events.
How was Sujatha garu's support?
- This film wouldn't have been completed without Sujatha's support. Her encouragement brought me this far.
About director Anji garu?
- Everyone who has a pen and paper writes a story. But it's great to visualize it. Garuda Vega Anji garu supported me wonderfully in bringing the story I envisioned to the screen. His seniority was very helpful to me. He made this film with amazing technical values. He showed my story a hundred times better.
- Charan Arjun gave amazing songs. Balagam Madhu garu edited my film. All the artists who were in "Balagam" are in my film. That's why they are calling it another "Balagam." The scenes in this film with Tagubothu Ramesh and Sujatha's combination will be amazingly entertaining.
- Satya Krishna garu's daughter, Annanya Krishnan, is the heroine in this. She believed in the story and did this film. She worked very hard. I thank Satya Krishna garu for this.
There are a lot of films releasing tomorrow, right? How do you see this competition?
- KCR acted in my film. That itself will bring openings to my film. I made the film by casting him without his knowledge. There's a lot of magic in this film. Watch all the films releasing tomorrow. Bless my effort as well. We have reduced the ticket prices for this film. The ticket is only a hundred rupees. In theaters like Sandhya, the ticket is only 80, 50 rupees.
