Netflix's Most Watched Films list out: 'Maharaja' beats Bollywood movies

Netflix India has released its list of the most-watched Indian films for the first 6-week period. The list is topped by the Tamil-language action thriller 'Maharaja', which garnered a whopping 18.6 million views. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead.

Following closely behind are Hindi movies: 'Crew' at 17.9 million views and 'Laapataa Ladies' at 17.1 million views. Other popular films on the list include 'Shaitaan' (14.8M), 'Fighter' (14M), 'Animal' (13.6M), and 'Dunki' (10.8M).

'Maharaja' trumping the films done by the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan is huge. Also, 'Laapata Ladies' is a film with no stars. Yet, it is at No. 3. 'Crew', a female-centric heist comedy, is at No. 2.

From action thrillers to comedies and dramas, there is something for everyone. Netflix India has not released any further details about the methodology used to determine the most watched films.

The tastes of the audience, especially those who catch movies on OTT, have undergone a massive change.
