Hyderabadi software engineer Gopala Boddepalli, who has been living in the US, is making his mark in the international film world with his passion project, 'Hunger'. The film, which Bodepalli both produced and directed, has garnered critical acclaim, winning an Honorable Mention Award at the prestigious International New York Film Festival.
What is 'Hunger' about? It tells the story of a frustrated music composer who comes across a hungry boy and tries to help him. After facing some situations, the composer is in a position to finally do what he wants. However, some constraints stop him from delivering what he had set out for. Finally, the time is ripe for him to help the child. He eventually ends up with philosophical learning rather than committing a mere moral act.
'Hunger' isn't Bodepalli's only success story. His earlier short film, 'Maranam', also impressed audiences worldwide, collecting awards at an impressive 34 international film festivals.
Notably, both 'Hunger' and 'Maranam' received nominations for official selection at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, a notable recognition in the Indian film industry. "Before he started doing movies, he was doing quirky one-liner cartoons which helped him earn credentials and ideas for expanding his writings so that he could create a script for a short movie," a note about him on IMDb says.
