Interview: Actress Anjali about 'Gangs Of Godavari'

'Gangs Of Godavari' has Anjali as Ratnamala, a belligerent woman who shares a deep bond with Vishwak Sen's Lankala Ratna. In her latest interview, the 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu' actress says that the viewers have always seen only her girl-next-door, calm and sweet side. In 'GoG', they will see a new side of her character.

Highlights:

My character will be found mouthing expletives in the film. Director Krishna Chaitanya's conviction made me go for the character even though many things about it are not straightforward. Although I have a Godavari background, Ratnamala's language is not exactly the mainstream Godavari dialect. Likewise, her demeanour and other dimensions of the character were not easy to imbibe. The initial days of production had me trying to find my feet. As days passed, I warmed up to the character.

Our characters (Vishwak Sen's and mine in the film are fiery. My name in the film echoes Vishwak's (Rathnamala and Rathnakar), but wait till you see who's louder! We have been friends, which made filming a blast - we brought that same energy on set.

Mine is a lead character in 'GoG'. Much the same can be said about my character in 'Game Changer', starring Ram Charan as the hero.

I have three projects in Tamil and in Telugu put together. I have something lined up in Malayalam as well.
