'Extra - Ordinary Man', starring Nithiin in the lead, is a total disaster in the US. As per trade reports, the film has been bulldozed over by the in-form 'Animal' and the new release, 'Hi Nanna'.
The entertainer, directed by Vakkantham Vamsi, has grossed $55,594 only so far (as of Saturday). Its Friday collections were pegged at just $18,820. The numbers are shockingly low.
"The trailer for 'Extra' was upbeat. It filled Nithiin and team with optimism. For whatever reason, the light-veined action comedy has failed to register even decent openings in the US. Perhaps, it has more to do with the general trend of the audience rejecting non-event films. In the case of 'Hi Nanna', the emotional hook worked in its favour. The film, thanks to Nani's stardom, is set to gross 1.5 million dollars there," a trade analyst says.
'Extra' has brought bad news for both Nithiin and Sree Leela. Producers N Sudhakar Reddy and Nikitha Reddy are unhappy about the poor reception. 'Extra' will hit OTT sooner than expected.
