Big day ahead for Allu Arjun's semi-failed director

Vakkantham Vamsi has been a talented writer (barring misfires like Akhil Akkineni's 'Agent') but success as a director has eluded him. When he directed 'Naa Peru Surya' in 2018, Allu Arjun tasted a major flop. After an entertainer like 'Duvvada Jagannadham', Bunny's fans and the audience in general expected another cracker of an entertainer. But Vamsi and Bunny offered them a largely serious film.

In his latest interview, Vamsi revealed that he withdrew himself into a shell after 'Naa Peru Surya' flopped at the box office. At that time, the 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' actor rang him up and motivated him not to be stuck with failure.

Vamsi's big day is hours away. 'Extra - Ordinary Man', his second directorial, hit the cinemas this Friday (December 8). If the film works out commercially, Vamsi will have arrived. It will boost his career as a writer as well. He is going to pen the screenplay and story of Pawan Kalyan's film, to be directed by Surender Reddy, his 'Krack' and 'Race Gurram' partner.

'Extra' stars Nithiin and Sree Leela in lead roles. With music by Harris Jayaraj, it is going to face stiff competition from 'Hi Nanna'.
