Anu Emmanuel's career has been written off by the media time and again. With Karthi's 'Japan' becoming a flop in Tamil and Telugu, the media is back.
The actress has delivered nine flops in a row. Gopichand's 'Oxygen' in 2017 had no expectations going for it. The biggest disappointments came her way in 2018 with the failure of Pawan Kalyan's 'Agnyathavaasi' and Allu Arjun's 'Naa Peru Surya'.
Anu hoped to recoup with Naga Chaitanya's 'Shailaja Reddy Alludu' but the film was a flop as well. 'Maha Samudram', 'Alludu Adhurs' in 2021 and Allu Sirish's 'Urvasivo Rakshasivo' in 2022 didn't do well. Of all these, the last one was respectable in terms of content but it was a remake.
Ravi Teja's 'Ravanasura' would have given her some hope earlier this year. But the dark thriller flopped heavily.
This week's 'Japan' featured her in the role of a film actress who spurns the male protagonist's love proposal. She had a good start early in her career. 'Kittu Unnadu Jagratha', 'Majnu', 'Thupparivaalan' (Tamil) and 'Action Hero Biju' (Malayalam) gave her a fillip whether or not they made great monies.
