Sampoornesh Babu's ‘Martin Luther King’ finds no takers!

Sampoornesh Babu enjoyed massive popularity thanks to 'Hridaya Kaleyam' and 'Kobbari Matta'. He has unfortunately frittered away his goodwill by making some wrong moves. Among his not-so-wise moves in recent times is the film ‘Martin Luther King’, a political comedy produced by YNOT Studios and Reliance Entertainment.

The 'Burning Star' probably felt that an association with the two banners and a genre like political satire might be a whiff of fresh air. Despite passionate promotions, 'MLK' has failed to take off at the box office. It was released in theatres on October 27.

As an actor, though, Sampoo must be satisfied. The film casts him in the role of a cobbler who is naive, soft-spoken and takes it lying down until he decides to assert himself ahead of a local-body poll.

Meanwhile, its director, Puja Kolluru, has appealed to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, KTR, KCR, Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh to watch the movie. "I am an IAS aspirant turned filmmaker. With utmost respect to the power of the ballot and to remind the value of vote to every citizen, I made a Telugu film called ‘Martin Luther King’. This is not a political cinema but a People’s cinema. You all are some of the greatest leaders I look up to. I know you are all busy taking care of all of us. But, I really think this is a film every politician and every citizen should watch. I request you to support this film and its spirit of democracy and encourage the voters of the coming election to watch it," she wrote.
