So many sequels in Telugu. When is it going to end?

It has been made official this week that 'Devara' will be made in two parts. 'Devara 2' was announced on Wednesday by director Koratala Siva. Following the news, it was suggested that producer Abhishek Nama would be making Nandamuri Kalyanram's 'Devil', too, in two parts.

If everything goes well, Mahesh Babu's movie with SS Rajamouli will be a multi-part movie. Allu Arjun's movie with Trivikram Srinivas might be made as a two-part movie. Also, it is a pan-India movie touching upon a subject Trivikram hasn't done before.

Already, we are looking at sequels to 'Salaar', 'Skanda' and others. There is 'Akhanda 2', 'Goodachari 2' and the seven-part 'HIT' franchise. 'RRR 2' was talked about by Vijayendra Prasad.

It was 'Pushpa 2' that really crystallized this trend, more than the mythically larger-than-life 'Baahubali 2'. In recent months, the stupendous success of 'Karthikeya 2' gave a major fillip to the trend.

This craze might come to a halt if a couple of sequels turn out to be flops at the box-office. Make no mistake, not every sequel is going to work commercially. Failure rate is a given.
