'Jawan' for Oscars? Atlee gets royally trolled

In an interview this week, director Atlee opined that he feels 'Jawan' can win an Oscar Award. He added that he hopes Shah Rukh Khan, the film's lead actor and producer, will make an attempt to pitch the movie in the upcoming Oscar campaign.

The film, which was released in theatres on September 7, is one of the biggest hits ever in the history of Indian cinema. However, not many within India really think that its screenplay, ideas, plot elements, and treatment are unique or original. If anything, the movie feels like a copy. Right from the 'Money Heist' influence to the ripping off of Shankar's movie ideas, a lot of things about 'Jawan' are unoriginal. SRK is the only force that made the film a blockbuster.

'Jawan' also suffers from certain illogical elements. The Academy jury is sure to find them absolutely inferior. The way the villain Kali (played by Vijay Sethupathi) has been portrayed will make the jury squirm.

The only hope for 'Jawan' is that those from first-world countries might want to encourage it to an extent because it shows India as a dysfunctional society that needs to be saved by a vigilante.

'Jawan', co-starring Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone and others, the film has music by Anirudh.
