Swapna Cinema, which has previously made 'Mahanati', 'Jathi Ratnalu' and 'Anni Manchi Sakunamule', is currently producing a multi-lingual web series titled 'Kumari Srimathi'. Star heroine Nithya Menen is its central character, donning the eponymous role. Written and created by Srinivas Avasarala, the series is directed by Gomtesh Upadhye.
Produced by Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt, the series is in the news because its Motion Poster has been released today. We gather that the 'Ala Modalaindi' and 'OK Bangaram' actress aspires to climb the social and economic ladder. She is seen as overly ambitious by those around her in the colony. Running into seven episodes, it will be released on Amazon Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
With cinematography by Mohan Krishna, this one has music by Staccato and Kamran. Praneeta Pantaik, VK Naresh and Thiruveer of the recent 'Masooda' fame will be seen in prominent roles.
Writer-creator Srinivas Avasarala is not in form though. His film 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi', released earlier this year, was a flop. Swapna Cinema is looking at breaking into the OTT world with a proper hit. Can 'Kumari Srimathi' be that hit on Prime Video?
