The month of December is usually a lean season before the most bankable Sankranti season begins for the Telugu film industry. Since there are no release dates available from next Friday, this Friday has seen more than 10 Telugu film releases. This includes movies such as Gurthunda Seethakalam, Mukhachitram, and Panchatantram. Most of them have failed to impress the audience.
In fact, one film that has still maintained its dominance is HIT: The Second Case, which was released last week, and is still doing well at the box office. It has surpassed all the new releases and continued to be the top-grosser even this Friday. The film featuring Adivi Sesh, HIT 2 was released last week on December 2. Since its release from day one, this movie got positive talk from both overseas and domestic audiences. It is still posting good numbers despite other releases this week.
Most of the new releases didn’t get any positive word of mouth publicity, and therefore audiences continued to watch the film HIT 2 in theatres. This hit trend and talk is expected to continue till next Friday. HIT 2 has moved beyond the break even figure and has been declared as a super hit at box office. The film is an investigative thriller directed by Sailesh Kolanu with Meenakshi Chaudhary as the main female lead along with Suhas, Rao Ramesh and Harshavardhan. Natural Star Nani and Prashanthi Tipirneni produced this movie under the banner Wall Poster Cinema.
Brahmanandam, Swathi, Samuthirakani, Shivathmika, Rahul Naresh, Vikas, Divya, Aadarsh and Sri played key roles in Panchatanthram which had a slow pace narration while Gurthunda Seethakalam featuring Satya Dev, Tamannaah, Kavya Shetty, Megha Akash, Priyadarshi, and others didn’t live up to its hype. It dampened Satya Dev’s spirits who was hoping for one more hit and didn’t give any break for Tamannaah either. Vishwak Sen, Vikas Vasista, Priya Vadlamani, Chaitanya Rao, Ayesha Khan, Ravishankar, and other actors played key roles in Mukhachitram which has been dismissed owing to its poor narration and flawed execution.
