Naveen Polishetty wins, Vijay Deverakonda secures consolation prize

The winner of the season is Naveen Polishetty. His 'Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty' had a semi-good start at the box office on September 7. That was because of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'. But, over the weekend, the relationship comedy proved its mettle. In the US, 'MSMP' grossed one million dollars in the first weekend. In Nizam, the film made nearly Rs 7 Cr as gross.

The film came out in theatres just a week after Vijay Deverakonda's 'Kushi'. 'MSMP' trumped 'Kushi' and didn't let it bounce back at the box office. As a result, the 'Liger' actor has scored a flop at the domestic box office.

But then, Vijay can take comfort from the fact that 'Kushi' has been adjudged a super-hit in the US. As per trade reports, 'Kushi' minted $1.8 million in the US by the end of September 10. While distributors from Andhra Pradesh and even Nizam have made losses on 'Kushi', the film has gifted the US distributor with super-hit figures.

Vijay, who hasn't had a domestic hit in the past five years, has secured a consolation prize. His popularity matters a lot in the Overseas market. That's what 'Kushi', co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, proves. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
