Director SJ Suryah has been busy with acting assignments of late. His next theatrical release as an actor is 'Mark Antony', to be released on September 15 in all major South Indian languages. The film co-stars Vishal, Sunil, Abhinaya and others. It has been directed by Adhik Ravichandran of Kollywood.
Speaking at the pre-release event of the sci-fi gangster comedy on Sunday, Suryah said that, as a filmmaker, he has given hits to Pawan Kalyan ('Kushi') and major Tamil actors in Tamil. However, his debut with Mahesh Babu, titled 'Nani', was a flop.
"The high that the success of 'Kushi' gave me remains strong to this day. After that movie, I made 'Nani' with Mahesh Babu garu. But it was a flop. I will surely deliver him a hit someday as a director," Suryah said.
There is another Tamil director who delivered a flop with Mahesh - AR Murugadoss. While 'Nani' was a flop, the performance of the 'Guntur Kaaram' actor in it has always been appreciated. The film had music by AR Rahman.
