'Jawan': Biggest Bollywood opener in India in Hindi

'Jawan' is the biggest opener at the box office in India in the history of Hindi cinema. The action entertainer made Rs 65.50 Cr in India on Day 1 (Thursday). This is Nett. Box office collections.

At No. 2 is 'Pathaan', which was released in January this year. That movie, which too starred Shah Rukh Khan, made Rs 55 Cr on its Day 1. So, Atlee's 'Jawan' minted Rs 10 Cr more than 'Pathaan'.

'KGF 2' in Hindi made Rs 53.95 Cr on its first day. So, it is at No. 3. 'War' with Rs 51.60 Cr and 'Thugs Of Hindostan' with Rs 50.75 Cr are at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

In our review of 'Jawan', we described it as an ill-informed and lazily-written film that gets its commercial values right. "Despite its petty political agenda, it somehow manages to seem neutral and unbiased," we wrote.

SRK's performance and screen presence, Anirudh Ravichander's music, Deepika Padukone's supporting appearance, Nayanthara's glam quotient, and the production values (enhanced by cinematographer GK Vishnu) have been lauded by the audience.

Even though 'Jawan' is inspired by many Tamil and Telugu movies, SRK doing it has lent a fresh feel as far as the Hindi audience are concerned.
