My son returned remuneration, didn't accept new house property: Vijay Deverakonda's father

'World Famous Lover' (2020) was a disaster. Its producer, KS Rama Rao, happened to pay a certain amount of remuneration to Vijay Deverakonda. The actor, on humanitarian grounds, returned half of the remuneration. He also didn't take possession of a new residential property offered by Rama Rao before the movie's release. These are the claims made by Vijay's father, Govardhan Rao, in his latest interview.

Govardhan Rao has opened up about the whole saga now because distributor Abhishek Nama recently went to the town pooh-poohing Vijay over 'World Famous Lover' incurring a huge loss of Rs 8 Cr. As per Nama, Vijay was unresponsive to his calls post the film's theatrical release in 2020.

Usually, when a distributor or a producer (Nama is both, by the way) loses a big chunk of money on a star hero's film, he expects the star hero to compensate it by doing another film for him by charging discounted remuneration. Vijay was approached by Nama for the same.

Allegedly, Vijay's father Govardhan Rao, at that time, insisted that a Bollywood director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali be roped in for his son. Govardhan Rao today said that he threw around names like Bhansali because he wanted to avoid Nama, who he felt was incapable of onboarding Bhansali.
