'Chandramukhi 2' is going to hit the screens on September 15. It will get a noteworthy release in Telugu if Ram Pothineni's 'Skanda' gets postponed to September 28.
The film's trailer was released on Sunday and since then, it has been ridiculed by Netizens like anything. Kangana Ranaut, who steps into the shoes of Jyothika from 'Chandramukhi', is the only relief. Raghava Lawrence looks unnatural and MM Keeravani's background score sounds like a misfit.
The colour tone and grading don't look appropriate. Lyca Productions doesn't seem to have spent much on the battle scenes that took place two centuries ago as per the story.
Director P Vasu is a veteran and it is safe to assume that his sensibilities are outdated in 2023. 'Chandramukhi' was released 17 years ago and those were the days when the horror genre was just getting revived in southern cinema. Today, we have watched a number of horror movies. So, the jumpscares and special effects have to be really advanced and novel if the audience are to be impressed.
Let's hope 'Chandramukhi 2' turns out to be a total surprise upon its release. MM Keeravani recently praised the movie to the skies, saying that he was blown away while composing the BGM. Keep your fingers crossed!
