All-time record at Indian cinemas on Sunday - Find out more

Single screens as well as multipelx chains across India are witnessing a rampage these days. The humongous popularity of the Tamil movie 'Jailer', and the unstoppable run of the two new Hindi releases (read 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2') have translated into unprecedented numbers at the ticket counter.

PVR Inox, the country's biggest multiplex chain, had a rollicking Sunday (August 13). It witnessed the highest-ever admissions and box office collections in a single day across its circuit.

The multiplex chain today said that 12.8 lakh guests visited its screens across India. Together, they shelled out Rs 39.5 Cr on tickets.

Had Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' been released as planned, the numbers would have been even better. And had Chiranjeevi's 'Bholaa Shankar' been running with a positive 'word of mouth', the Telugu States would have seen better numbers at PVR's screens.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) being Independence Day, numbers are going to be very good. The public holiday will result in grand numbers.
