The other day, during a promotional interview, actress Kajol said that she would like to ask Shah Rukh Khan how much did 'Pathaan' really make at the box office. It was a not-so-sly dig at the allegedly exaggerated figures claimed by the makers of the 2023 release.
With Kajol herself insinuating that SRK faked the collections of the film, thousands of social media users are saying that the secret is now almost open. "Kajol wouldn't have made the comment if there was no inside talk about how numbers were cooked up to project 'Pathaan' as the biggest hit. Even Bollywood celebs seem to believe that there was so much of lying about the BO collections of the film," a social media user said.
Bollywood is the only major industry in India where the culture of openly questioning other films/heroes (at least to an extent) exists. In Telugu cinema, figures are cooked up routinely. But no celebrity has ever questioned the practice.
Meanwhile, SRK is waiting for the release of 'Jawan' on September 7. The film's teaser was released recently. It was a smash hit.
