Gone are the days when Friday releases at cinemas were the order of the day. These days it’s all about the OTT platform where competition is only becoming more intense over the last one year. The OTT platforms are offering an exciting set of new releases to entertain audiences. This week too has a series of releases from different languages.

Telugu

Manchu Vishnu’s latest release Ginna, which didn’t perform well in theatres, is all set to premier on Amazon Prime. The movie is expected to get some good traction in the digital space since Vishnu is quite popular on social media. One more Telugu release 1996 Dharmapuri is streaming on Aha.

Naveen Chandra’s film Repeat released on Hotstar already while Ashok Selvan, Ritu Varma and Shivatmika Rajashekhar starrer Akasham has just premiered on Netflix today. Although the film didn’t do well commercially, it has won critical acclaim.

Hindi

Rashmika Mandanna’s grand debut in Bollywood Goodbye is releasing on Netflix which stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Kartik Aaryan’s latest film Freddy opted for a direct digital release on Disney+ Hotstar today. Even this movie premiered today.

Tamil

Love Today, a recent Tamil hit film is now available on Netflix today in Tamil version only. SJ Suryah’s latest web series Vadhandhi, written by Vikram Vedha’s directors Pushkar and Gayatri has been released on Prime Video.

Malayalam

On the Malayalam front, Mohanlal’s recent release Monster is available now on Disney+ Hotstar in multiple audio formats.

There are quite a few other foreign releases as well. OTT platforms have emerged as a best entertainment option these days giving a wide variety of options for the audience to choose from. Already, Kantara which released last week is performing well on OTT after its stupendous success that stole the march recently. It is impressive to see how films cutting across industry barriers are performing well

which has also changed audience preferences and tastes in terms of the filmy culture.

Fantasy thrillers are quite popular on Netflix and now a new ‘first week’ record was created with a film ‘Wednesday’ directed and produced by Tim Burton. Earlier, Season 4 of “Stranger Things” made a record with 335 million hours of watch time in the first week of release. Now it is the turn of “Wednesday” which has beat earlier records with 341 million hours of watch time.
