Nikhil Siddhartha is convinced that 'SPY' has been screwed up badly due to a bad release strategy. In a statement on Wednesday, the actor said that the film didn't get a proper multi-lingual release owing to a few unstated contractural and known content-delivery issues. He indirectly put the blame on his producer, K Rajasekhar Reddy, with whom he has allegedly had some differences for the past couple of months.
In the statement, Nikhil said that he is pained over the movie not having a proper release. He then sounded positive about his upcoming movies (especially, 'Swayambhu' and 'The India House'), saying that their release in all languages will be good regardless of whatever obstacles might come their way.
It must be noted that 'SPY' flopped majorly in Telugu despite a very prominent release. While the spy thriller received superb openings (the best in Nikhil's career) despite heavy competition from 'Samajavaragamana' and two re-releases ('Tholi Prema' and 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi'), the audience felt cheated. The Subhas Chandra Bose disappearance mystery was used as a marketing gimmick. The film has been trolled on social media like anything.
