The makers of 'Adipurush' have conveyed to all distributors and exhibitors to ensure that one ticket is left unsold for all shows screening the Prabhas-starrer from June 16. The seat is meant for Lord Hanuman.
As per Hindu religious beliefs, Hanuman chose to be a Chiranjeevi and live in this world so that he can enjoy listening to Sri Rama 'katha' wherever it is recited. It is believed that, where earnest and devotional spiritual discourses are held, Hanuman appears there to intently listen to the 'pravachanam'. If you are a person of faith, you will take such stories at face value.
'Adipurush' is based on the Ramayana. However, the fact of the matter is that the film is a commercial project. While its subject is spiritual in nature, everyone associated with the film has charged fees. Nobody has worked for free. Prabhas, Om Raut, Kriti Sanon and others must have been paid the best remuneration for their services. They didn't do the film free of cost just because the subject is religious and hoary in nature.
Religious sermons by saints involve no profit motive. When a saint who stays away from material comforts claims that Hanuman listened to his discourse, people would appreciate him. But if a commercial 'saint' were to make the same claim, he will only invite ridicule. And expectedly so.
The same is happening in the case of 'Adipurush'. The film has been made on a budget of hundreds of crores. Commerciality is at the root of the project. There is nothing wrong with the profit motive. But if you want to make profits, stay away from religious posturing. Is it too much to ask?
A Netizen opined that Hanuman doesn't need a physical seat. "No spiritual master has dedicated a seat to Hanuman because a truly believing person knows that God doesn't need one," he wrote.
