Tollywood media continues to be given tight slaps by film celebs. A section of the web media has been notorious for spreading fake rumours.
Earlier this week, a fake story was cooked up about Hansika Motwani. It was reported that Hansika accused a Telugu hero of harassing her. The 'Desamuduru' actress was so miffed by the reports that she called out the rumour-mongers and asked them to do fact-checking.
Recently, Naga Chaitanya was misquoted as saying that he dislikes his ex-girlfriends who told him they would want to be his friends and nothing more. The 'Custody' actor asked the media to first go through his video interview before making up fake quotes.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, just before the release of 'Shaakuntalam', was falsely quoted as saying something indirectly about Chay. She hit out at the media in a calm rebuttal.
Last year, media houses misquoted Nagarjuna Akkineni as saying that divorce was sought by Samantha and that his son merely accepted her demand. Nag himself called out the rumour-mongers, asking the media to be diligent.
Tollywood media must end the culture of blindly copying news stories without checking for the source. Otherwise, it will continue to be given tight slaps.
