Dubbed film shocks 'Sita Ramam' producer's family film

'Anni Manchi Sakunamule' was released on May 18 amid low hype. The film was not expected to take good openings. In fact, director Nandini Reddy is self-aware in this regard. She openly said that none of her films, with the sole exception of 'Oh Baby', ever took even decent openings. But, thanks to positive 'word of mouth', they all broke even (with the exception of 'Jabardasth').

'AMS' has roundly been defeated by 'Bichagadu 2', which was released in theatres a day later, that is, on May 19. As per trade reports, the film is running to packed houses on many screens. This is a sign that 'AMS' has been thoroughly humbled. It won't recover and has conceded defeat to 'Bichagadu 2', a dubbed movie.

Swapna Cinema, which produced last year's blockbuster 'Sita Ramam', has released 'AMS' on its own. Producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt have had to take the bitter pill this time.

On the brighter side, 'AMS' reportedly made Rs 21 Cr by way of the sale of non-theatrical rights. The figure was more than enough for the producers to recover the costs. That's why they released the film on their own in theatres.
