On Sunday, Tollywood lost one of its most respected figures, veteran actor and producer Costumes Krishna, who passed away due to age-related health issues at his Chennai residence. According to reports, the former costume designer-turned-actor, who was known for his roles in many Tollywood movies, breathed his last in his home.

Krishna, whose real name was Madasu Krishna, hailed from Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh. In 1954, he moved to Madras to work as an assistant costume designer and quickly established himself in the industry. He later became a full-time costume designer at Ramanaidu's studio, designing costumes for top actors like NTR, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Chiranjeevi, Vanishree, Jayasudha, Jayaprada, and Sridevi. His designs were known to set fashion trends in those days.

Krishna's foray into acting came after director Kodi Ramakrishna suggested he try his hand at it. His first film was 'Bharat Bandh' (1991), in which he played the villain. Over his career spanning several decades, he acted in over 100 films, playing various roles as a character actor in movies like 'Pellam Chebite Vinali', 'Police Lockup', 'Allari Mogudu', 'Villain', and 'Puttintiki Ra Chelli'.

Krishna also produced a few movies, including the blockbuster hit 'Aswaddhama', starring superstar Krishna. Other movies produced by him include 'Pelli Pandiri' and 'Arundhati'. Upon hearing of his passing, many Tollywood personalities expressed their condolences and mourned the loss of this great talent.
