Pure Emotion, Zero Antagonists: Vijay Deverakonda & Sandeep Reddy Vanga Ignite the Soulful Epic – First Semester Pre-Release Gala!

The reunion of the Baby lead pair—Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya—is on the verge of meeting audiences, this time wrapped in an intimate, slice-of-life romance. Directed by Aditya Hasan (the storyteller behind the runaway hit series #90s), Epic – First Semester is presented by Srikara Studios and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.

Ahead of its worldwide release on September 11, 2026 (with special premieres rolling out across select screens on September 10), the makers hosted a vibrant pre-release gala at Hotel Daspalla, Hyderabad. The evening turned into a celebration of modern storytelling with Rowdy Star Vijay Deverakonda and acclaimed director Sandeep Reddy Vanga stepping in as the chief guests.

"I Waited for Aditya Hasan Just Like I Waited for Tharun Bhascker": Vijay Deverakonda

Taking the stage to roaring applause, Vijay Deverakonda expressed genuine pride in the grounded script choices his younger brother Anand continues to make:

*"I feel deeply proud of Anand's filmography. He has never chased routine formulas, and 'Epic' will undoubtedly stand as a beautiful milestone in his career. Aditya Hasan made such a profound emotional dent with '#90s'. Years ago, after watching short films by Tharun Bhascker, I waited restlessly for his silver-screen debut; I felt that exact same excitement for Aditya's theatrical entry.

Anand is genuinely blessed to headline Aditya’s debut feature. Vaishnavi is an exceptionally organic performer, and I am certain 'Epic' is going to strike a massive chord. Telugu cinema is passing through a phenomenal creative renaissance right now, and this film is an integral part of that wave."*

"Aditya Writes Like a Master Craftsman": Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Recalling his bond with Anand from the grassroots days of Arjun Reddy, Sandeep Reddy Vanga offered candid admiration:

  • Passion Over Paychecks: "Back when we were touring the US for 'Arjun Reddy' promotions, I met Anand. He had a comfortable corporate IT job there, but his eyes lit up only when talking cinema. His passion was identical to ours. He has this uncanny ability to seamlessly melt into everyday characters without artificial heroism."
  • The Depth of #90s: "I sat and watched '#90s' with my children and loved every frame. Aditya writes with remarkable clarity—never for a second did it feel like the penmanship of a novice; it carried the polish of a veteran author. The teaser and trailer are superb, and Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music carries pure soul."

"No Gunfire, No Villains—Just 100 Minutes of Raw Human Conversation": The Team Speaks

The core creators broke down why Epic is an intentional departure from chaotic, action-heavy trends:

  • Anand Deverakonda on Generational Truisms: "Between the ages of 23 and 26, everyone goes through a messy crossroads of career pressure, first love, and family responsibilities. 'Epic' is our generation's diary. Trivikram garu always says a simple story told with raw honesty hits deeper than elaborate plot twists or gunfire. There is no villain here; our circumstances and insecurities are the conflict."
  • Vaishnavi Chaitanya on Channeling Kadali: "Kadali translates to the sea. She isn't an ornamental female lead; she taught me how to articulate what I deserve and stand up for myself with conviction. Playing her alongside Anand’s grounded honesty was a rewarding creative test."
  • Producer Naga Vamsi on Family Accessibility: "Out of a 2-hour-20-minute runtime, nearly 100 minutes belong exclusively to Anand and Vaishnavi talking, debating, and reconciling in a room. It captures what happens when a soft-spoken boy from rural Telangana shares life with an assertive, modern girl in the UK. Misunderstandings between parents and youth are treated with immense sensitivity. You can comfortably walk into theatres with your girlfriend, your wife, or your mother—it is an authentic family entertainer."
  • Aditya Hasan on Honoring Audience Faith: "When the trailer dropped, a few wondered if this was the usual campus drama. But loyal viewers instantly replied: 'Wait for the film, Aditya wouldn't write something superficial.' That trust is sacred to me. I made this film from living, breathing society."

A Touching Musical Note & Countdown to Premieres

Senior actor Shivaji noted that Epic blends memory and cinema into an enduring emotional archive, while chartbuster composer Hesham Abdul Wahab described the soundtrack as a deeply personal journey that allowed him to discover a fresh sonic palette.

Anchored with warmth by Suma Kanakala, the evening saw presence from actor Srinivas Gavireddy, cinematographer Azeem, and lyricists Suresh Banisetti and Poornachary.

With early access premiere screenings locked for Thursday, September 10, Epic – First Semester arrives across global theatres on Friday, September 11, 2026!
