"Next-Level Actions & High Emotions": Fight Master Nabakanth Spills Exclusive Insights on Ram Charan’s ‘Peddi’
The anticipation surrounding Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s rustic sports drama "Peddi" has scaled grand heights, fueled by chart-topping tracks and power-packed glimpses. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, this massive venture bankrolled by Venkata Satish Kilaru’s Vriddhi Cinemas is set for a worldwide premiere on June 4, 2026.
Ahead of the release, rising stunt choreographer Fight Master Nabakanth interacted with the media, sharing gripping anecdotes about the film's intense action production, Ram Charan's physical dedication, and on-set challenges.
From Assistant to Action Director: Nabakanth’s Journey
Though originally hailing from Manipur, Nabakanth grew up in Hyderabad, entering the stunt industry at the tender age of 14, inspired by his father. Over an 18-year-old career, he trained as an assistant master under industry stalwarts like Vijay Master and the iconic Ram-Lakshman Masters. He marked his debut as an independent action choreographer with Pushpa: The Rise and has since worked on massive ventures like Pushpa 2: The Rule, Manashankara Varaprasad, and Dacoit.
The Story Behind the Viral Cricket Glimpse
Nabakanth revealed how director Buchi Babu Sana approached him during the filming of Pushpa 2 with a unique brief for Ram Charan's introduction scene: it needed to feel like an action sequence without being a conventional fight.
-
The Mass Influence: Growing up in the mass locality of Hafeezpet, Nabakanth drew inspiration from local street cricket, where players aggressively scoop the bat from below to smash a six.
-
The Global Impact: This stylized "mass batting shot" was incorporated into the film's first glimpse and went viral nationwide. Nabakanth credited Buchi Babu's generous nature for publicly attributing the stunt's success to him.
National-Level Wrestling Backing and Challenges
Peddi is deeply rooted in a raw, athletic backdrop, presenting action choreography that balances cinematic high notes with grounded believability.
-
Elite Collaborations: Nabakanth’s gurus, Ram-Lakshman Masters, designed a key police station brawl. For the authentic national-level wrestling (Kusthi) tournaments featured in the film, the team collaborated with veteran Bollywood action director Shyam Kaushal (father of actor Vicky Kaushal).
-
The Gada Sequence: The signature shots of Ram Charan wielding a heavy mace (Gada) belong to an intensely designed mass wrestling episode, which Nabakanth tags as a "never-before-seen visual feast."
Ram Charan’s Unmatched Dedication and On-Set Injury
Nabakanth spoke extensively about Global Star Ram Charan's profound respect for technicians and his rigorous physical discipline during the shoot.
"Charan Garu undergoes a colossal physical transformation for the second half, which relies entirely on heavy body-to-body combat. Shooting continuous action blocks while strictly observing the Ayyappa Deeksha spiritual discipline and maintaining a rigid fasting diet is a testament to his immense commitment," Nabakanth shared.
Recalling a frightening moment when the actor suffered an on-set injury during a complex roll movement, Nabakanth admitted he was moved to tears. He lauded Ram Charan's humility, noting that the superstar immediately took the blame for the mishap to protect the stuntmen, checked on the opposing fighters first, and shockingly returned to the sets the very next day with fresh stitches to resume filming.
Star-Studded Action and Future Projects
The action director promised that the narrative isn't just mindless violence; the high-voltage action blocks are deeply intertwined with core emotional hooks starting right from the first half. He also confirmed that Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar and Mirzapur actor Divyenndu Sharma feature in highly energetic, stylized action blocks. Furthermore, Megastar Chiranjeevi personally watched the action rushes and commended Nabakanth's precise execution.
Riding high on Peddi, Nabakanth’s upcoming roster features high-profile projects including Paradise, Rowdy Janardhan, Director Vamsee’s mega-collaboration with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film with director Bobby.
