Director Krish Jagarlamudi addressed the media about his upcoming film, 'Ghaati', starring Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu. Produced by Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi under First Frame Entertainment, and presented by UV Creations, the film is set to release on September 5th. Krish spoke about the film's concept, casting, and his experience.
On the Genesis of 'Ghaati'
Krish stated that every film he makes is an adventure, and 'Ghaati' is no different. He was inspired by a story from writer Dr. Chintakinda Srinivas Rao, who told him about the 'Ghaatis'—the people who live in the Andhra-Odisha border and work as laborers to transport a special kind of Ganja called "Silavati". Fascinated by this new world and its unique culture, Krish decided to make a film on a large scale to showcase this unknown world.
On Casting Anushka Shetty
Krish said the idea for a female-centric film came organically, and he wanted to work with Anushka again after their successful collaboration on 'Vedam.' He felt that the character of Silavati was a perfect fit for Anushka's grace, attitude, and superstar presence. He praised her performance, saying, "I told Anushka this is one of her finest performances, and I am confident the audience will say the same."
A Completely Fictional Story
Krish clarified that 'Ghaati' is a completely fictional story. While it touches on the social issue of Ganja, the film focuses on the themes of survival and identity. He emphasized that the film will not glorify the issue but will rather inspire audiences to stand against social problems. "It is a big-scale film made for a superstar like Anushka, with commercial action and powerful emotions," he added.
The Action and Music
Krish explained that the action genre was the perfect fit for the story due to the intense situations and emotions of the characters. He added that the film's large canvas allows for breathtaking visuals. He expressed his gratitude to cinematographer Manoj, who captured the soul of the Eastern Ghats. He also lauded music director Sagar for creating an innovative and fresh sound that truly represents the mountains and their atmosphere.
Cast Performances
Krish praised the entire cast, stating that every performance in the film is extraordinary. He revealed that he envisioned Vikram Prabhu for the role of Desiraju and that Vikram delivered a great performance and even dubbed in his own voice. He was also impressed with Chaitanya Rao, who plays the villainous character Kundala Naidu. "The trailer is just a glimpse; the real feast will be in the movie," he said. He also noted that Jagapathi Babu plays a very different and pivotal character in the film.
Team Support and Release
Krish thanked producers Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi and the entire team from UV Creations for their passionate support. "Anushka's star power is immense, and we believe this film will reach her highest-grossing status," he said.
The film is set to release on September 5th, with a grand opening that everyone is eagerly anticipating.
