Director Nag Ashwin has offered fresh insights on the much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, the pan-India sci-fi mythological thriller that captured audiences in June 2024. The film, featuring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, made a massive box office impact, earning close to Rs 1,050 crore worldwide.

Sequel on the Cards

With the monumental success of the first installment, attention swiftly shifted to Kalki 2. During his appearance on a podcast, Nag Ashwin reaffirmed his intention to begin filming the sequel by end of 2025, although several logistical challenges remain.

Director’s Insights

Nag Ashwin highlighted that bringing together the busy schedules of the lead actors and managing the scale of pre-visualized and action sequences would require careful planning. He explained, "A lot of things are connected to it. The actors have to come together... Some sequences are much bigger. So it will take some time. I don’t have an exact answer. Everyone is busy."

He further clarified that while filming will be gradual, the post-production phase is likely to take longer. He suggested that fans could expect the final product in 2 to 3 years, signaling a significant wait before the next chapter unfolds on the big screen.

Star Power and Crew

Alongside Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, Kalki 2898 AD featured legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles. The film’s epic soundtrack was composed by Santhosh Narayanan, under the banner of Ashwini Dutt Productions.
