Hollywood Heat Meets Indian Grit: JJ Perry Leads All-Indian Stunt Team for Massive Action Schedule in Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups
When most film units pause their shoots during Mumbai’s relentless monsoon, the team of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups is doing exactly the opposite—taking on the storm as part of the story and spectacle.
The film’s ongoing 45-day action marathon has been described as one of the most ambitious schedules in Indian cinema. At the heart of it is Hollywood action director JJ Perry, globally known for his work on John Wick, Fast & Furious, and Day Shift.
From Hollywood to India – JJ Perry’s Bold Move
In a significant creative choice, JJ Perry—who has often brought together international stunt specialists—has opted to collaborate with an exclusively Indian stunt crew for this mega sequence.
“This Indian team is world-class, and that’s exactly why I chose them,” Perry said. “We’re building one of the toughest sequences I’ve ever attempted, and the dedication here is unmatched. We’re setting new boundaries together.”
A Global Vision Meets Indian Craft
The action block was meticulously prepared with storyboarding, pre-visualization, tactical rehearsals, and artistic workshops. It brings together the vision of Perry, superstar Yash (who also serves as producer), and filmmaker Geetu Mohandas. Also crucial are VFX giant DNEG and producer Venkat K Narayana, whose partnership with Yash has unlocked a historic budget and resources.
This collaboration has positioned Toxic not just as a pan-Indian film, but as a global cinematic event.
Yash + Geetu Mohandas + JJ Perry = A Genre-Bending Saga
With Yash’s mass appeal, Geetu Mohandas’ creative uniqueness, and JJ Perry’s global action sensibilities, the film promises to be a genre-defying blend of spectacle and storytelling — while never losing its emotional core.
“In my 35 years, I’ve worked across 39 countries, but this collaboration stands out,” Perry added. “Indian cinema is bold, creative, and full of heart. Working with Yash, Geetu, Venkat, and the entire crew—including cinematographer Rajeev Ravi and the art department—has been a career highlight.”
