This might sound like one of the biggest hoaxes ever in the history of cinema but then if one were to follow the conversation between the legendary James Cameron and the tough taskmaster S S Rajamouli, the chances of a Hollywood film in their combo looks highly likely.
So, Rajamouli met James recently at the prestigious Golden Globes Awards event and this is how the conversation went –
Rajamouli: I saw all your movies, big inspiration. From Terminator to Avatar, Titanic, everything! Loved your work!
James: Thank you. Now, watching your characters, it's just like such a feeling to watch them. And your setup – fire, water, story, reveal after reveal. And then you show what happened in the back story. It's like all of them are a homely setup. Why he's doing what he's doing. And the twists, turns and the friendship. Eventually, it gets to the point where he can't kill him and it reverses. It's just so powerful. And I loved the fact that you just threw the whole thing. It's just a full show, right? I loved that.
Rajamouli: These words from you are more than an award for me. I mean, I can't believe you saw my film, and you're analyzing my film, oh my God!!
James's wife: He has seen it twice. Hold on, he watched it first time by himself. And then, he was like, Baby you gotta see this. And the whole time, he was trying to tell me that, I was like 'Be quiet! Shhh...shh....
James: Wait till you see what happens next
James's wife: I know that, just wait, just wait
James: I didn't give any spoilers. So, how long did it take to shoot?
Rajamouli: We shot for 320 days
James: That sounds really crazy
(And, with no second unit)
James: Of course, who wants to do a second unit?
(to Keeravani) And you composed right? Because, I saw you at the Golden Globes, The score, its kinda amazing because, I like the music to kinda stay out of the way and kinda come in and support when the audience is already feeling something. So, it builds the theme. But you're using the music very differently. He opens his eyes and...Booommmm!!! And it's like...and you go with it. It's like...you feel like standing up. There are moments in the film where I just had to get up. I'm talking about watching at home. I'm standing up!!
Keeravani: Thank you very much, sir. It's an honour.
James: But...the thing I can only imagine, what it must be like, to be Indian and to see your film. Because of all the hurt, the oppression and everything, and all that must be yours. And the pride, your home audience must feel. And I'm sure this is a bonus round for you. You must feel on top of the world. What you must be going through...your country, your people, the pride, the power...you know. You must feel just on top of the world.
Rajamouli: Absolutely, that's the exact word I'm using everywhere. We're on top of the world.
James's wife: And you deserve to be on top of the world
Keeravani: Thank you so much sir
James: And one thing, if you ever wanna make a movie over here, let's talk.
Well, the above conversation says it all!
