'RRR' has not only upheld the pride of Telugu cinema but also Indian cinema has clearly created a sensation, first in terms of the box office records and now by getting international awards and recognition. It has been nominated for both Golden Globe and Oscars. In the Golden Globes, it has already won the award for Best original song for 'Naatu Naatu'. There has been an outpour of love by Indians and Indian film celebrities from all over the country and the world.
Now, all eyes have shifted to the Oscar race after RRR even winning the critics choice award in the US last week. With the Oscar race heating up, here's an update that is doing the rounds regarding the possible winning chances of Oscar for Rajamouli's RRR. Sources say that the major voting process has reportedly been completed for the Oscar award.
The Academy Members hailing from 89 countries have already taken part and voted for their favourite films and actors. However, one good news is that this time there is more prominence for voting due to the record number of film personalities who exercised their voting rights. According to grapevine, this is the highest ever voting seen in the 95-year history of Academy awards. This was revealed by the CRO Bill Krammer who expressed happiness over this enthusiastic trend.
This message was also reportedly sent to all the members of Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences. Moreover, from India this is for the first time that so many films are competing at the same with at least ten in the fray like RRR, The Kashmir Files, Gangubhai Kathiawadi, Vikranth Rona and others. The voting was held between January 11th and 17th for 301 film entries from all over the world. Our music maestro AR Rahman too took part in the voting.
The final set of films in the Oscar race will be announced on January 24th while the awards event will be held on March 12th. Already 'The last Film Show' has been officially nominated from India. Many predict that the record voting will definitely work out in the favour of 'RRR' and the Golden Globes success will be repeated once again.
