'Kuberaa' Pre-Release Event: Rajamouli Calls Trailer 'Mind-Blowing,' Stars Promise a 'Very Different' Film
Hyderabad, Telangana – June 12, 2025 – The highly anticipated pan-India film 'Kuberaa,' starring Superstar Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, held its grand pre-release event today, with blockbuster director S.S. Rajamouli gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. Rajamouli officially launched the film's trailer, expressing immense excitement for director Sekhar Kammula's unique vision.
'Kuberaa' is being hailed as a potential game-changer in Indian cinema, boasting an exceptional cast and tremendous response to its promotional content, including hit songs like "Poyiraa Mama," "Trance of Kuberaa," and "Pee Pee Dum Dum." Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under SVCLLP in collaboration with Sekhar Kammula's Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, this high-budget production is set for a grand worldwide release on June 20th in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
In his address, Director S.S. Rajamouli spoke highly of Sekhar Kammula: "Sekhar Kammula is a very soft and humble person. That's the immediate impression you get. But he is a man of strong resolve. He doesn't budge an inch if anything obstructs the principles he believes in. I greatly admire that quality." Rajamouli noted their contrasting styles: "Sekhar makes films based on his beliefs, whereas my films don't always align with my personal principles. We are complete opposite poles. I have immense respect for him."
Expressing his surprise at Kammula's long career, he said, "I can't believe it's been 25 years since he entered the industry. I thought he was my junior, but he's one year my senior. He has remained the same for these 25 years, making films with his unwavering principles. I wish him to continue that way."
Rajamouli's excitement for 'Kuberaa' was palpable: "When the announcement came about Nagarjuna Garu, Sekhar Kammula, and the title 'Kuberaa,' it felt fantastic. Learning Dhanush was also in it made it an amazing combination. After 'Trance of Kuberaa' was released, it felt mind-blowing. Showing Nagarjuna Garu in a rich world and Dhanush Garu in a poor world, without revealing anything about the story, created immense interest." He concluded, "Sekhar Kammula usually reveals his film in the trailer itself, but with 'Kuberaa,' it feels like a suspense film. How did he bring Nagarjuna Garu and Dhanush Garu together? What's the drama between them? This creates a lot of curiosity. I am eagerly waiting for this. The trailer has further increased the excitement. The visuals are mind-blowing, the production design is amazing, everything is top-class. Devi Sri Prasad's 'Nadhi Nadhi' song and the 'Kuberaa' theme are fantastic. June 20. Don't miss 'Kuberaa'!"
King Nagarjuna thanked the fans and expressed his honor in working with Dhanush. "Working with Dhanush is an honor. His performance in a character is outstanding. He should achieve more successes. It was a great pleasure to work with him," he stated.
Nagarjuna emphatically declared, "To talk about 'Kuberaa,' Sekhar Kammula Garu comes to mind. This is purely Sekhar Kammula's film. We are all just characters in it. He made this film by stepping out of his comfort zone, and he pushed us out of ours too. Just like we say Mayabazar is K.V. Reddy's film, 'Kuberaa' is Sekhar Kammula's film. I did this film for Sekhar Kammula. When Sekhar confidently says this film will be a hit, it feels very encouraging. I have complete faith in Sekhar. Devi Sri Prasad has given amazing music. Listening to the songs fills you with energy. The background score is outstanding. Thank you to producers Sunil Garu and Ram Mohan Garu. All the very best to the entire team. I wish the film great success. Your love as fans remains strong, no matter how many years pass. You accept, watch, and appreciate whatever roles I do. As long as you are there, ANR Lives On. I love you all."
Superstar Dhanush began with "Om Namashivaya" and fondly remembered his father, crediting his hard work for his presence on stage today. "Sekhar Garu worked very hard for this film. He worked tirelessly, disregarding his health. I was very worried about him," he shared.
"This is my 52nd Tamil film and my second Telugu film. Sekhar Garu narrated this story to me even before 'Sir.' It's a great pleasure to do my second Telugu film with him. My thanks to Sekhar Garu for giving me such a wonderful character in 'Kuberaa'," Dhanush expressed. He recounted his experience working with Nagarjuna, "Working with Nagarjuna Garu was a fantastic experience. I learned many things from him. I grew up watching his films. Sharing the screen with him was a magical experience." He praised Rashmika's dedication, acknowledging her hard work to reach her current stature. He also thanked producers Sunil Garu and Ram Mohan Garu, stating, "Without them, this film wouldn't exist." Dhanush concluded, "To all the technicians and actors who worked for me, thank you everyone individually. 'Kuberaa' is a very special film. It's coming on June 20. I am confident that you all will enjoy it."
Director Sekhar Kammula thanked Rajamouli for attending, calling him an inspiration who instilled confidence in everyone. "Every film is like a daughter or a son, but 'Kuberaa' is like a mother's love. Whether it's a beggar or a millionaire, a mother's love is universal. I feel fortunate that the story came with such an ideology. The film has turned out very well," he stated.
Kammula described 'Kuberaa' as "a very new film. You have never seen a film like this before. It will be that fresh. Audiences in any state will feel it's their film. It's a true pan-Indian movie. It will have laughter, emotion, tears, thrill, surprise, and pain, all mixed together. 'Kuberaa' is a fantastic film." He thanked his direction and production teams individually. "I was nervous when shooting with Nagarjuna Garu. I saw Nagarjuna Garu during 'Shiva' shooting. He has done many diverse roles in his career. He agreed immediately when I narrated the script. Thank you, Nagarjuna Garu, for doing this film, saying you would do anything for me." He praised Rashmika: "Rashmika is a very beautiful person, same inside and out. She performed wonderfully." He also commended Jim Sarbh's performance.
Speaking about Dhanush, Kammula said, "What can I say about Dhanush? He is the pride of India. When I asked him to look like a beggar, he truly transformed himself. This is the first time in his career that a director asked him to lose weight, and he genuinely did it. No number of National Awards would be enough for him." He thanked production designer Thota Tharani, calling him a father figure, and praised Devi Sri Prasad for his fantastic and energetic music. He also thanked producers Sunil Garu and Ram Mohan Garu for fearlessly producing such a large-scale film. "They are very happy with this film. I wish 'Kuberaa' brings in a lot of money. Thank you to everyone who worked on this film individually. 'Kuberaa' will definitely entertain all of you."
Heroine Rashmika Mandanna expressed her gratitude: "'Kuberaa' is a great opportunity for me. I wanted to work with Sekhar Garu, and I got that chance with this film. I consider it great luck. I loved the character I played, and I hope you will too. We all worked very hard for the film. Thank you to the entire team. I got the opportunity to work with Nagarjuna Garu for the second time. He is a very beautiful human being. This is my first time working with Dhanush Garu. I hope other directors and writers will offer us new films after seeing our chemistry. I look forward to working with him again." She also thanked the producers for their generous budget, wishing the film great success.
Devi Sri Prasad thanked everyone who supported him in his film journey. "'Kuberaa' is a very special film. No amount of words can truly describe it. I wanted to work with Sekhar Garu for a long time, and it finally happened with 'Kuberaa,' which makes me very happy. He wrote an amazing script. We have never seen a story like this before. It's truly amazing. You will enjoy every moment in this film."
He praised the cast: "National Crush Rashmika Garu performed wonderfully. She is in the film throughout and played a very different character. Dhanush Garu performed amazingly. It is one of his best performances. When I saw him on screen, I was surprised. When I was doing the background score, he appeared as a character himself. My bond with Nagarjuna Garu is inseparable. I cannot imagine anyone else playing his character; he looked so royal. The star cast of this film is amazing. I feel very honored to be a part of this film. You must watch this film in theaters on June 20." He also thanked producers Sunil Garu and Janhvi Garu for their support, wishing the film to be a massive blockbuster.
Producer Puskur Ram Mohan Rao highlighted Sekhar Kammula's unique style: "Sekhar Kammula Garu is an amazing filmmaker who makes films in a very different style. He has made this film in a different genre. Audiences will see thriller, crime, and suspense elements in this film. This will be very different from Sekhar Kammula's other films. Dhanush Garu performed fantastically. He is an all-rounder. Nagarjuna Garu is very special to us. He is a family friend. We are very happy that he acted in our film. His performance in this film is next level. We also have a 300-crore heroine Rashmika in our film (laughs). Devi Sri Prasad has given fantastic music. Thanks to the direction and production teams individually."
Lyricists Nandakishore and Bhaskar Bhatla also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to work on such a special project with Sekhar Kammula and Devi Sri Prasad, wishing the film immense success. Production designer Thota Tharani also conveyed his happiness working with a "wonderful team."
The event concluded on a high note, reflecting the collective confidence and excitement for 'Kuberaa's' worldwide release.
