Kangana Ranaut, known for her powerful performances in Bollywood, is making a bold move into Hollywood with the upcoming horror feature, "Blessed Be The Evil." The film, directed by Anurag Rudra, will see Ranaut sharing screen space with Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone.
The narrative, crafted by Rudra and Gatha Tiwary, explores the psychological and spiritual turmoil of a Christian couple grappling with the aftermath of a devastating miscarriage. Seeking solace, they relocate to a remote, abandoned farm, only to find their relationship and spiritual convictions challenged by a sinister force.
Director Anurag Rudra expressed that the film draws inspiration from the folklore he encountered during his upbringing in rural India. He conveyed to Variety his desire to translate these culturally rich narratives onto the international stage through cinema, viewing it as a powerful medium to bridge the gap between imagination and reality.
"Blessed Be The Evil" is slated to commence principal photography in New York this summer. Notably, the production team has opted for a US-based shoot to mitigate potential disruptions arising from "uncertainties stemming from the recently announced Trump," as reported by Variety. The project will be presented to potential distributors at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival.
Gatha Tiwary, in addition to co-writing the screenplay, will also serve as a producer alongside Rudra, under her banner Lions Movies.
Kangana Ranaut's most recent project was "Emergency," a film she both directed and starred in, portraying the late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
