"Robinhood" is a Full Fun Entertainer for the Whole Family. I Believe it Will Be the Best Movie in Nithin's and My Career: Director Venky Kudumula

Hero Nithin's highly anticipated heist comedy entertainer "Robinhood" stars Sreeleela as the female lead. Directed by Venky Kudumula, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers with a high budget. Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad plays a crucial role. Australian dynamic cricketer David Warner makes a special guest appearance. The promotional content released so far has generated huge buzz. The songs composed by GV Prakash Kumar have become chartbuster hits. The film is set for theatrical release on March 28th. On this occasion, director Venky Kudumula shared details about the film in a press conference.

How did the "Robinhood" journey begin?

After "Bheeshma," I thought of a story for Chiranjeevi Garu. When I told him the initial idea, he was very excited. I am a fanboy of Chiranjeevi Garu. I took a lot of time to develop the story and screenplay to make it amazing. However, somewhere along the line, I couldn't satisfy Chiranjeevi Garu. It didn't turn out as we expected. I told him I would come back with another story.

Then I met Nithin Anna. I write stories based on the hero. I already had the "Robinhood" idea. Once it was finalized with Nithin Anna, I molded the story to suit him.

How was it working with Nithin Garu after "Bheeshma"?

We had a comfortable journey since "Bheeshma." I had previously worked as an associate director for "A Aa." I have had a good relationship with Nithin Anna since then. The "Robinhood" journey was also wonderful.

What will the hero's character be like in this film?

The hero in this film is a manipulator. He believes that mental strength is stronger than physical strength. The first 20 minutes of the film feature various getups to introduce the character. After 20 minutes, the story changes. It's very different. I believe this film will be the best movie in Nithin's and my career. The film has fun at regular intervals. It's an entertainer that the whole family can watch together.

About David Warner's role?

I thought it would be good to have an international star in a cameo role. When the producers asked who, I said David Warner. I love cricket, and I also like David Warner's game. However, I didn't think it would be possible. Producer Ravi Garu tried very seriously and arranged a meeting. I was very surprised. I met Warner in Delhi and gave him a presentation. He was also very excited.

Warner is a family man. He started making reels to entertain his children, and it continued from there. He acted very confidently. He can do reels so wonderfully because of that confidence.

About Rajendra Prasad Garu's character?

Rajendra Prasad Garu has a very important role in this film. He runs a security agency. The hero manipulates him and takes him into a serious world. He gets innocently trapped in it. I envisioned him from the moment I wrote this character.

What is Sreeleela's character like?

There's a difference between having talent and imagining you have talent. Sreeleela's character is the latter type (laughs). She's a girl who thinks she's very intellectual. It's very funny. There's a lot of entertainment in that character.

About GV Prakash's music?

I've wanted to work with him for a long time. He's a composer who delivers music on time. The songs have already received a great response. The background music is also extraordinary. The "That's a Surprise" song also comes as part of the story.

Who selected Ketika Sharma?

The producers initially wanted to do a special number with Ketika in "Pushpa," but it didn't work out then. When there was an opportunity in this film, we thought Ketika would be good, so we did this song.

You had time before the film's release. Did you try to improve the film during this gap?

Definitely. We had a lot of time. The quality of music and post-production improved a lot. The film is coming out with good quality.

What is the justification for the "Robinhood" title?

The hero stands for those in need, like Robin Hood. This title is apt for this story. There's also a good message in it.

About the "Robinhood" action?

I've wanted to work with Ram-Lakshman Masters for a long time. They did the interval block. Vikram Mor Master, Real Satish Garu, and Ravi Varman Master also designed the action. The action turned out wonderfully.

About Mythri Movie Makers?

Once Mythri Movie Makers approves a story, they don't think about anything else. Their support is amazing. They produce the film without any compromises.

Your podcast with Nithin Garu went viral. Would it be good to include such sequences in the film?

It was good because we did it outside the film. If we include it without a situation in the film, it won't work.

There are comments that your dialogues have a Trivikram mark. How do you feel about that?

That's the biggest compliment for me. I consider him a guru. I worked on a film with him. I learned a lot from him.

What genre of film do you want to do?

I love "Chandamama" stories. I want to do stories with a fantasy touch.

Will you do a film with Chiranjeevi Garu?

Definitely, I will do a film with Chiranjeevi Garu.
