Amitabh Bachchan has reclaimed his position as the highest taxpaying actor in India for the financial year 2024-25 (FY25), contributing a staggering ₹120 crore in taxes on earnings of ₹350 crore. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the veteran actor, known for his financial discipline, paid his final advance tax instalment of ₹52.5 crore on March 15, 2025.
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan held the top spot with a tax payment of ₹92 crore. However, Bachchan’s FY25 contribution surpassed Khan’s by nearly 30%, propelling him from fourth place to the top of the list. Other notable names in the industry include Thalapathy Vijay, who paid ₹80 crore in taxes, and Salman Khan, who reportedly contributed ₹75 crore.
Diverse Revenue Streams
Bachchan’s impressive earnings come from a variety of sources, including feature films, brand endorsements, and television appearances. The legendary actor continues to be a dominant force in the entertainment industry, recently delivering a critically acclaimed performance as Ashwathama in 'Kalki 2898 AD', for which he reportedly earned ₹20 crore. He also made his Tamil debut in 'Vettaiyan' alongside Rajinikanth, earning ₹7 crore for the role.
Bachchan remains the face of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)', a show he has hosted for over two decades. Reports suggest that his remuneration for 'KBC' has seen a steady rise over the years. In 2017, he earned ₹2.9 crore per episode for season nine, which increased to ₹3 crore per episode in season 10. From seasons 11 to 13, his fee remained stable at ₹3.5 crore per episode, while for seasons 14 and 15, it rose to ₹4-5 crore per episode. For the recently concluded 'KBC 16', Bachchan reportedly earned ₹5 crore per episode.

With registrations for 'KBC 17' expected to begin soon, Bachchan’s earnings are set to remain robust. Additionally, he is rumored to be signing on for major projects in 2025, including 'Kalki 2', which is expected to begin production shortly.
