In a surprising turn of events, former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has renounced worldly life and embraced a spiritual path at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The 52-year-old actress, known for her roles in 90s films, underwent a 'sanyas' ceremony at the Kinnar Akhara, a prominent ascetic order, and adopted the new identity of 'Mai Mamta Nand Giri.'

Kulkarni's spiritual journey began 23 years ago when she received initiation from Guru Shri Chaitanya Gagan Giri. However, she chose the auspicious occasion of the Maha Kumbh Mela to formally renounce worldly attachments and dedicate herself fully to spiritual pursuits.

The actress underwent the 'Pind Daan' ritual, symbolizing the severance of ties with her past life, followed by a 'pattabhishek' (consecration ceremony) conducted by the Kinnar Akhara. She expressed her joy at being part of the historic Maha Kumbh and receiving the blessings of revered saints.

Kulkarni explained her decision to join the Kinnar Akhara, highlighting the significance of Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, whom she considers a manifestation of 'Ardhnaareshwar' (the combined form of Shiva and Shakti). She also revealed that she underwent a rigorous examination to attain the title of 'mahamandaleshwar,' demonstrating her commitment to spiritual practice.

The Kinnar Akhara welcomed Kulkarni's decision, emphasizing their respect for her devotion and desire to serve 'Sanatan Dharma.' With this transformation, Kulkarni joins the ranks of spiritual leaders dedicated to religious discourse and social upliftment.

Her renunciation of fame and fortune for a life of spiritual devotion has surprised many, including her fans. However, Kulkarni remains steadfast in her commitment to her newfound path, emphasizing that her decision aligns with the divine will.
