Massive ₹700 Crore Sheep Distribution Scam Unveiled in Telangana

In a startling revelation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has unearthed a staggering ₹700 crore scam in the state's sheep distribution scheme. Launched with the aim of providing sustainable livelihoods to traditional shepherd families under the previous BRS government in April 2017, the scheme has now been marred by widespread corruption.

The investigation conducted by the ACB has shed light on fraudulent practices permeating various levels of the administration, implicating both brokers and officials. The recent arrest of the CEO of the Animal Husbandry Department, Ramachandrar, along with an Officer on Special Duty (OSD), has further intensified scrutiny into the matter.

The ACB's probe aims to uncover the depth of involvement of officials at different hierarchies within the system. The scheme, once heralded as a means to uplift marginalized communities, has now become synonymous with exploitation.
