Congress says it would appeal for a re enquiry in Rohit Vemula case

The Indian National Congress in Telangana said that it would appeal to the state government to order for a re-enquiry into the Rohit Vemula case. On Friday, the Cyberabad police have closed the case of Rohit Vemula suicide stating lack of evidence.

In connection with this case, Congress senior leader G. Niranjan, TPCC Vice-President & Chairman, Election Commission Coordination Committee, sent out a press note and said that “It is shocking that the police informed the court that they were closing the Rohit Vemula suicide case. We appeal to the state government to order a re-inquiry of this case.”

In 2016, the Rohith Vemula case sent shock waves across the nation with protests breaking out at the University of Hyderabad. On January 17, 2016, Vemula was found dead hanging from a fan in a room at the NRS hostel of the University of Hyderabad.
