CM KCR inaugurates Martyrs Memorial. Telangana CM KCR inaugurated the Martyrs Memorial with much fanfare in an extravagant manner at Tank Bund. The inauguration of the Martyrs Memorial concluded the 21 Day celebrations of the decennial formation of Telangana state.
The memorial was built at a height of 150 feet in three acres of land. The memorial built with stainless steel cost Rs 179 crore as a tribute to about 2,000 people who sacrificed their lives for the sake of separate statehood for Telangana. When CM KCR arrived at the venue, police paid the guard of honor.
CM KCR and all the representatives, MPs, and MLAs paid floral tributes in the backdrop of flashing candles. Later all of them sang the Martyr's song and paid tributes to them. KCR then honored the six selected family members of the martyrs on the dias. KCR unveiled the Telangana Talli idol, then lighted the martyrs' light.
The 45-meter structure is the largest seamless stainless-steel memorial built in the world. It is five times bigger than Cloud Gate, a similar structure in Chicago in the US or the Bubble at Karamay in China.Even in India, there are several war memorials, including museums and stupas. But the Telangana martyrs’ memorial is going to be a unique model, which reflects the spirit of the Telangana movement and the sacrifices made by the people to realize their dream of a separate Telangana state
