YSRCP has lost the likes of MLC Vamsi Krishna Yadav, Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashouri, and Ambati Rambabu to Jana Sena Party. Another YCP senior leader is likely to join JSP soon and he is a sitting MLA from YCP.
The mentioned senior leader is Varaprasada Rao Velagapalli, the sitting MLA from Gudur, who is angry with Jagan for not allocating him the MLA ticket for the 2024 election. YCP has already allotted a new in-charge for the Gudur assembly constituency and shut the doors for Varaprasad. He hoped to get at least Sullurpeta MLA ticket but that is also not likely to happen.
Anguished with this open humiliation by Jagan's party, the senior politician is working on alternatives and he has reportedly come in contact with Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party.
Varaprasad previously contested as PRP MP candidate from Tirupati in 2009 and lost. He is looking to revive these old ties and lobby his way to get the Tirupati MP ticket from JSP for the 2024 election. But there is a twist here as the JSP-TDP alliance is seeing senior loyalist Panabaka Lakshmi as a prospective MP candidate from Tirupati. Will Pawan Kalyan go out of his way to sidestep Lakshmi and give the ticket to Varaprasad?
