Get ready for a love story with a twist! Director Viswa Karun is set to unveil "Dilruba," starring Kiran Abbavaram and Rukshar Dhillon, on March 14th. And he promises it's not your typical romance.
Viswa Karun, a filmmaker with roots in Tadepalligudem and Bhimavaram, has been a cinephile and bookworm since childhood. His journey into the film industry started with writing gigs, eventually leading him to Kiran Abbavaram. "Kiran initially passed on my first story, but he appreciated my storytelling style," Viswa reveals. "He told me to come back with something better. 'Dilruba' was that story, and Kiran was immediately on board!"
Viswa emphasizes Kiran's unwavering support throughout the process. "He was incredibly encouraging, telling me to take my time and make a good film," he says. "There was no interference, just pure support." The director admits to the inherent pressure of delivering a successful film, leading to meticulous double-checking and refining the presentation, while staying true to the core narrative.
"Dilruba" dives into the complexities of modern relationships. "We've embraced Western politeness, but in Telugu, asking for forgiveness is harder," Viswa explains. "Sidhu, Kiran's character, is a man of unwavering principles. This leads to friction, especially after a breakup. He initially treats his ex as an enemy, but the film explores the idea that friendship can endure even after love fades. It's about acknowledging the past and checking on someone you once cared for."
Viswa is quick to clarify that "Dilruba" is a unique take on love, distinct from any other recent releases. "All love stories share similarities, but the presentation is key," he asserts. "We've crafted a fresh narrative that will resonate with audiences."
The film's music is a major highlight. "Sam CS, despite his busy schedule, poured his heart into creating beautiful songs and a powerful background score," Viswa shares. He also credits Bhaskarabhatla garu, his "guru," for the film's evocative lyrics. The title "Dilruba" itself was chosen for its captivating sound and perfect fit with the story.
"Dilruba" faced minor delays due to casting artists from other languages, but the final product is a testament to the team's dedication. "Rukshar Dhillon and Kathy Davison delivered impressive performances in their significant roles," Viswa says. The film's stunning visuals were captured in Mangalore, replacing the initially planned Vizag setting.
Viswa, a writer at heart, is already looking ahead. "I focus on crafting a perfect script before moving on," he says. "After 'Dilruba's' release on March 14th, I'll dive into preparations for my next project." Get ready for a love story that breaks the mold!
