Prominent Tollywood producer Dil Raju recently addressed the media regarding the recent IT raids conducted on several Telugu film producers, including himself. He clarified the situation and dispelled rumors circulating in the media.
Raju stated that IT raids are a common occurrence in any business, and he had previously undergone a similar experience in 2008. He emphasized that despite media reports claiming the seizure of expensive documents and crores of rupees in cash, these were false. He clarified that only Rs. 20 lakhs in cash was found across all the producers' premises, and all transactions were properly accounted for.
Raju assured that they fully cooperated with the IT officials and provided all necessary documents related to distribution, exhibition, and other financial aspects of their business. He also clarified that they had not acquired any new assets in the past five years.
He dismissed claims of black money in the film industry, stating that with nearly 80% of the audience booking tickets online, the scope for unaccounted cash transactions is minimal.
Raju also addressed rumors about his mother's health, explaining that she was hospitalized due to a cough and lung infection and has since recovered and returned home. He expressed concern over the media's tendency to sensationalize news and appealed for responsible reporting based on facts.
He acknowledged the public's curiosity about celebrities but urged the media to verify information before publishing it. He concluded by requesting the media to report responsibly and avoid spreading misinformation.
