Aishwarya Rajesh on "Sankranthiki Vasthunnam": "Bhagyam is a character I've never played before. This film will connect with everyone."
Victory Venkatesh, blockbuster hit machine Anil Ravipudi, and the highly successful banner Sri Venkateswara Creations have collaborated on the highly anticipated movie Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. Produced by Sirish and presented by Dil Raju, the film features Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh as the female leads. Sensational composer Bheems Ceciroleo provides the music. The film's already released songs have become sensational hits, creating a huge buzz. The trailer has further raised expectations. Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is set to release on January 14th. On this occasion, heroine Aishwarya Rajesh shared details about the film in a press meet.
How did you get involved in this project? How did this movie journey start?
"I received a call from director Anil Ravipudi while I was shooting for the web series Suzhal. He asked me to do a look test for a character. I was very surprised. I have seen all of his films. My character in this film has a specific dialect. I came to Hyderabad for the look test with that dialect. They gave me a dialogue. As soon as I said two lines, they said that was enough and narrated the script to me. I laughed a lot during the narration. This is the script I enjoyed listening to the most in my career. They searched a lot for the character of Bhagyam. I am happy to have gotten that role."
"I have done many films so far. Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is very special to me. The 'Godari Gattu' song has reached everyone. If I am seen at the airport, everyone is taking photos with me. That is the reach that song has gotten. That song spread like wildfire."
"I haven't had a proper duet song in Telugu until now. That void has been filled with the 'Godari Gattu' song. I am happy to have done such a wonderful song with a big hero like Venkatesh, and that it has become such a viral hit. All the songs in the movie have become chartbuster hits. If the songs are hits, it's like half the battle is won. The trailer has further raised those expectations. This is a movie that everyone will enjoy."
How was it acting with Venkatesh?
"I was very scared in the beginning. Because Bhagyam is not an ordinary character. It's like walking on a tightrope. It would be difficult if the balance is lost even a little. I have not done such a character before. It's a character that makes the audience feel pity when they see it. It is a very crucial role. If it's a little off, it will be an overdose. It took me ten days to understand the character of Bhagyam."
"Venky sir's emotions are all natural. His timing is amazing. It is not easy to act with him. But he was very encouraging. He used to compliment me, saying that I was rocking the character of Bhagyam. But I used to get tense when delivering dialogues. My hands would tremble. Once I even got a fever (laughing). I will never forget the support of Venky sir and Anil sir. Venky sir is very positive. He is a wonderful person."
"A character like Bhagyam has not been seen in Telugu cinema for five or six years. It's a very fresh role. It's been a long time since we've had such a feel-good family movie. This is a film that everyone will connect with. Anil sir told this story very creatively."
About acting with Meenakshi Chaudhary?
"Meenakshi is very simple. She and I have close similarities. She studied to be a doctor. She worked hard and came up. She is very sweet. Meenakshi and I became good friends. Except for the 'Meenu' song, Venkatesh sir, Meenakshi, and I travel together throughout the movie. You have to see the three of us. Venky sir's character is caught between the two of us."
How was it working under Dil Raju's production?
"It was a nice experience working with Dil Raju and Sirish."
How do you choose your stories?
"Not everyone gets the opportunity to act in a movie. It is a blessing. Cinema is a great platform to tell different stories. I like to do different roles. I want every role I play to have social responsibility."
