Telangana Exhibitors Applaud Government's Decision on Movie Ticket Prices
The Telangana government's recent announcement to ban special shows and maintain standard movie ticket prices has been met with widespread approval from the Telangana Exhibitors' Association. This decision, announced by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, aims to address concerns regarding fluctuating ticket prices and their impact on moviegoers and the film industry.
At a press conference held at the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce office, Vijender Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Exhibitors' Association, expressed his support for the decision. He highlighted the confusion and inconvenience caused by varying ticket prices for different films, emphasizing the financial burden on middle-class families, students, and those with limited incomes. Reddy commended the government's move to standardize ticket prices, stating that it would encourage higher audience turnout and ultimately benefit the film industry.
T.S. Ram Prasad, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Exhibitors Sector, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for similar measures in Andhra Pradesh. He criticized the practice of benefit shows and exorbitant ticket prices for big-budget films, arguing that they deter audiences and negatively impact overall collections, particularly for medium-budget films.
Bala Govind Raj, Secretary of the Telangana Exhibitors' Association, further emphasized the negative impact of fluctuating ticket prices on audience perception and theater attendance. He cited instances where high ticket prices discouraged moviegoers, leading to uncertainty and hesitation among audiences. He urged both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh film chambers to address this issue and welcomed the Telangana government's decision to standardize ticket prices.
The exhibitors expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for their proactive measures to support the film industry and ensure an affordable and enjoyable movie-watching experience for all.
